Classic Italian Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 1 package ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions:
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar over a double boiler until pale and thick.
- Add mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- Combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, making sure not to oversoak.
- Arrange a layer of soaked cookies in the bottom of a dish.
- Top with a layer of the mascarpone mixture.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
