How to Make Focaccia Bread
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Coarse salt, for sprinkling
- Fresh rosemary, for topping
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Slowly add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Press the dough onto a baking sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
- Drizzle olive oil over the top, sprinkle with coarse salt, and add fresh rosemary.
